The Longmoor Military Railway ‘WD’ 2-10-0 600 Gordon is being modelled in its 1960s condition with Key Publishing’s exclusive Special Edition commission with Clark Railworks new tooling for ‘OO’ gauge.
The new Special Edition will be limited to 250 models split between DCC ready and DCC sound fitted with delivery expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. The special edition will model 600 Gordon in its 1960s colour scheme which, in comparison to its preservation era livery, saw it feature smaller numbers on the cab side and smaller LMR lettering on the tender, no lining on the boiler, a black upper tender and the correct shade of blue for its LMR service.
It is in this condition which Gordon operated on the LMR at Liss in Hampshire hauling a collection of rolling stock including ex-BR Mk 1 suburbans, ex-SECR ‘Birdcage’ brakes and other rolling stock. In addition, 600 also stretched its legs on the Southern Region main line when it hauled the RCTS ‘Longmoor Rail Tour’ in April 1966 which took it all the way to Woking.
Publisher, Modelling said: “We are excited to be working with Clark Railworks to recreate the 1960s period LMR livery on Gordon, which has long been a preservation favourite on the Severn Valley Railway. The colour scheme is subtly but importantly different to its current guise and will appeal to BR Southern Region modellers capturing the end of steam period as well as those collecting LMR locomotives and rolling stock.”
The Clark Railworks ‘WD’ 2-10-0 specification calls for the highest level of detail and accuracy in each version of the locomotive with standard features including a powerful coreless motor, die-cast boiler, smokebox and chassis, separately fitted parts throughout, brass and plastic constructed tender, detailed wheels and axles, brass bearings throughout, metal lined cylinders and a fully detailed cab interior with firebox glow.
The Special Edition will be available DCC ready and DCC sound fitted - DCC ready models are priced at £295.00. Production is limited to 250 unit across the two versions.
Pre-orders are open now with a £30 non-refundable deposit required to secure your order exclusively with Key Publishing. Delivery is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025 with Clark Railworks full production run of new ‘WD’ 2-10-0s for ‘OO’ gauge.
