LNER A1 4-6-2 4472 Flying Scotsman - Era 3
Embodying the golden age of steam, Hornby’s new model of 4472 Flying Scotsman is a perfect addition to the developing world of TT:120 scale. A stunning replica of a famed steam locomotive, Hornby’s Gresley ‘A1’ 4-6-2 combines a highly popular design with fine detail. Buy now from the Key Model World Shop for £159.99 (RRP £176.99).
The Gresley ‘A1’ 4-6-2s were introduced in 1922 and became the flagship locomotives of the London North Eastern Railway on its formation at the 1923 Grouping. Widely recognised as the most famous steam locomotive constructed, the new addition for TT:120 scale from Hornby replicates 4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ in original ‘A1’ condition with GNR tender and tall cab, carrying the elaborate early LNER lined apple green livery.
The locomotive is finely detailed, with accurate details for an LNER ‘A1’ and high-quality printed details for the intricate livery. Internally, the model features a Next18 decoder socket in the tender together with a 15mm x 11mm cube speaker making it a simple locomotive to upgrade to digital sound with Hornby Triplex Sound Bluetooth decoders or other brands. Suitable for the early 1920s (era 3), this rendition of 4472 is the ideal addition to Hornby’s Scotsman trainset, and perfect for use with Hornby’s super detailed Pullmans and forthcoming Gresley Teak range of carriages.
Product highlights include:
- Gresley ‘A1’ 4-6-2 4472 Flying Scotsman in LNER lined apple green
- DCC ready locomotive with a Next18 decoder socket
- Factory fitted 15mm x 11mm cube speaker for simple sound upgrades

- Famous addition to any layout set from the early 1920s (era 3) and ideal expansion to The Scotsman trainset (TT1001M/TT1001TXSM)
