The fourteenth edition of the Hornby Magazine Yearbook features 128 pages of model railway inspiration from the team behind Britain’s magazine for modellers, written by modellers. The Collector’s Edition hardback reflects on the best of 2021 while looking forward to the future with our annual guide to the new locomotives, carriages and wagons that are planned across ‘OO’, ’N’, ‘O’, ‘OO9’ and - for the first time - ‘O-16.5’ narrow gauge.
Expertly written features showcase model railways in a range of settings including the second part of our Great Central Railway inspired layout project to build Swithland Sidings in ‘OO’ gauge, a full sound installation guide for the A1 Steam Trust’s new build ‘A1’ 4-6-2 60163 Tornado using the Hornby model and a new sound decoder from Locoman Sounds as the basis, restoration of a ‘basket case’ Bulleid, modelling ‘Merrymaker’ excursions, scratchbuilding a signal box and more.
The team have also assembled features highlighting the history of the GCR in preservation, operation of Network Rail test trains plus a full survey of the available ready-to-run rolling stock to model the distinctive ‘yellow trains’ in ‘OO’ off-the-shelf.
