GBRf Class 50 Co-Co 50049 Defiance - Era 11 Sound Fitted
Hornby’s Class 50 type 4 diesel is a stand out locomotive to expand or start modelling in TT:120 scale. Accurately replicating a perennially popular class in eye catching liveries, ‘Defiance’ is ideal for any modern image and preservation-era TT:120 layout - and this version features Hornby Triplex Bluetooth Sound installed.
Designed for the West Coast Mainline, the fifty Class 50 locomotives were built by English Electric and introduced from 1967 on the West Coast Mainline. The powerful 100mph Type 4s faced successive redeployments and served both the Western and South Western regions of BR. Carrying many colourful liveries until withdrawal in 1994, the popular class continue to operate in large numbers on heritage and main lines today.
Presented by Hornby in the striking blue and orange of GB Railfreight (GBRf), 50049 ‘Defiance’ is one of two Class 50s painted in matching GBRf blue alongside 50007, with both regularly seen on the mainline and heritage railways (era 11).
Internally the locomotive features a Next18 DCC decoder socket factory fitted with a Hornby Triplex Sound Bluetooth decoder and a 15mm x 11mm cube speaker. Hornby’s TT:120 Class 50 is highly detailed with separately fitted parts and etched metal detailing. A distinctive and popular livery, 50049 is the perfect companion to all Hornby carriage ranges, modern image stock and HSTs.
