TOUAX Sffgmss IFA Wagon with Hapag-Lloyd Container
Hornby's range of modern wagons for 'TT:120' scale includes the IFA Sffgmss container wagons which will make the perfect partner to its forthcoming model of the Class 66 freight locomotive for the scale.
The IFA wagons were built by Arbel Fauvet Rail in France in the 1980s to transport shipping containers. They were European registered and coded Sffgmss which meant they could travel on European ferries as well as pass through the Channel Tunnel to the UK.
These wagons are mostly seen in Germany and the UK and, due to its low height frame, the IFA can carry high cube 9ft 6in containers as a load, even with the restricted British loading gauge. They are owned by wagon leasing companies Touax, Ermewa, CNC, Novatrains and France Wagons and are regulars in containers trains hauled by Class 66s.
In service the IFA wagons can carry either 20ft, 30ft, 40ft or 45ft shipping containers.
This model replicates a TOUAX Sffgmss IFA wagon with a Hapag Lloyd orange-liveried 45ft shipping container as a load. With a chassis made of die-cast metal, this sturdy wagon can run around the track smoothly.
The model also features close coupler mechanisms and highly detailed wheel sets with low flanges. NEM coupling pockets are fitted as standard together with 'TT:120' scale couplings.Model
