PRIZE FIGHTER

In the January 2023 issue of FlyPast, we salute the heroism of American airmen in World War Two by featuring George Haye’s superb Spitfire RW382 on the cover. Photographer Darren Harbar goes air-to-air with this most distinctively painted of British warbirds and describes the use of the type in US hands during World War Two’s Mediterranean theatre. Adorned in USAAF ‘stars and bars’, RW382 is one Spitfire that truly stands out.

LANCASTER ‘JUST JANE’
The return to flight of a UK-based Avro Lancaster is the stuff that warbird dreams are made of. Steve Beebee reports from the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre

GREAT WAR LEGEND
The Sopwith Camel was one of the most prolific, and perhaps the most famous, of all British Great War fighters. We reflect on the Sopwith’s pilots, actions and legacy in a special section accompanied by rarely seen images and exclusive artwork

I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love themagazine.
Pretty much the only game in town for the stuff I'm looking for.
