Weapons of World War Two
World War Two saw tens of millions of soldiers fighting across the globe.
The warring nations equipped their troops with a vast array of weapons, from bayonets to rifles to anti-tank munitions.
Each nation sought to equip its infantry with the best equipment available; sometimes they actually succeeded, creating iconic weapons like the Bren gun, M1 Garand rifle and the MG 42 machine gun.
Other troops had to make do with leftovers from World War One.
Whatever was supplied was put to use on battlefields from Europe to North Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
This special publication examines the weapons that infantry carried into combat, how those weapons fared in wartime use and how soldiers used them in action.
