Touax KFA Container Wagon with 3x20 Containers

Touax KFA Container Wagon with 3x20 Containers

The KFA container flat for 'TT:120' scale is here offering a new choice of intermodel wagon perfect to run behind the Hornby 'TT:120' scale Class 66 diesels.

Three different OO-scaled 20ft-long containers are featured in this model replica of Touax KFA, including those representing the Evergreen Marine Corporation, NOL (Neptune Orient Lines) and French shipping company Delmas.

The KFA intermodal wagons were produced using bogies and components reclaimed from redundant wagons, such as the TEA tankers, and were built in Finland in the late 1980s for Tiphook Rail. At just over 60ft long, the KFA is able to accommodate a mix of different shipping containers from the standardised range, either three 20ft containers, or a 40ft plus 20ft container.

In total, 240 of these bogie flat wagons were produced and as well as intermodal work, have also been used for transporting waste material, military equipment and on rail infrastructure trains, for which some are still in use today. As well as Tiphook Rail, the wagons have also been operated by Touax and Network Rail.

Features of the Hornby 'TT:120' scale model include:

  • Die-cast metal chassis
  • Turned metal wheels
  • 'TT:120' couplings in NEM pockets
  • Body mounted couplings
  • Separately fitted handrails and brake wheels
  • Finely printed lettering and data panels
  • Weighted containers with plastic bodies
  • Suitable for era 9-11 container trains

I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love themagazine.
Pretty much the only game in town for the stuff I'm looking for.
