GROUND MOUNTED PORTAL GANTRIES
PJM Models laser-cut overhead gantries allow modelling of the catenary systems used on the British railway network for 25kV AC electric locomotives.
This triple pack of gantries builds ground mounted portal type masts using laser-cut plywood parts for the main structure. They were originally created for Pete Waterman's Making Tracks layout and are tried and tested on the series of West Coast Main Line layouts built by the Railnuts between 2023-2025.
The kit includes three sets of parts to build ground mounted portal catenary gantries as well as a jig for assembly of registration arms. Brass rod and 3D printed insulators are also included to allow modellers to create realistic and functional gantries. The design allows for tensioning of the wire with the registration arms being suitable for use with Peco overhead contact wires.
The gantries is 136mm wide and 108mm tall. The distance between the inside of the gantry supports is 120mm.
In order to build the kits you will need superglue to assemble the gantries together with a soldering iron to build registration arms using the supplied materials in the pack.
Instructions are provided in the kit. A full step by step modelling guide is available on Key Model World which covers the basics of each catenary kit from PJM Models.

Subscribing since the 80's!
I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or ‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love the magazine.
