Hornby TT:120 Class 50 50016 Barham BR blue

Hornby TT:120 Class 50 50016 Barham BR blue

Hornby’s Class 50 Type 4 diesel is a stand out locomotive to expand or start modelling in TT:120 scale. Accurately replicating a perennially popular class in eye catching liveries, Barham turns the clock back to the beginning of the Class 50 story.

Designed for the West Coast Mainline, the fifty Class 50 locomotives were built by English Electric and introduced from 1967 on the West Coast Mainline. The powerful 100mph Type 4s faced successive redeployments and served both the Western and South Western regions of BR. Carrying many colourful liveries until withdrawal in 1994, the popular class continue to operate in large numbers on heritage and main lines today.

Presented by Hornby in original BR blue with the distinctive roof inset, 50016 Barham models the early years of the Class 50s as they would be have been seen on the West Coast Main Line between 1967 and their early movement to the Western Region from 1972.

Internally the locomotive features a Next18 DCC decoder socket, making it a simple upgrade to digital control with Hornby Triplex Sound Bluetooth decoders or other brands of decoders. Hornby’s TT:120 class 50 is highly detailed with separately fitted parts and etched metal detailing. A distinctive and popular livery, 50016 is the perfect companion to Hornby's Mk 2F carriage range.

Product highlights include:

  • BR Class 50 Co-Co 50016 Barham in BR blue
  • DCC ready with a Next18 decoder socket
  • NEM standard couplings
  • Separately fitted etched metal steps, handrails and grilles
  • Popular diesel locomotive suitable for any modern image layout (era 10 onwards)

I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love themagazine.
Pretty much the only game in town for the stuff I'm looking for.
