Hornby CrossCountry HST Limited-Edition Train Pack DCC Ready

Hornby CrossCountry HST Limited-Edition Train Pack DCC Ready

Key Publishing has teamed up with Hornby to offer a limited edition train pack featuring CrossCountry Class 43 HST power cars 43184 and 43366 in ‘OO’ to celebrate the end of long-distance HST operation in the UK. The pack is exclusively available from the Key Model World Shop.

The 43184 Laira Diesel Depot and 43366 HST 40 train pack is in stock now priced at £359.99.

The limited edition is being produced exclusively for Key Publishing by Hornby and uses the latest HST power car tooling from the manufacturer. Production is limited to 350 units split between 200 DCC ready (Cat No. R30385) and 150 DCC sound fitted (R30386TXS).

The two power cars were amongst the last in service with CrossCountry which withdrew its final HST sets in September 2023. The two power cars in the pack were used to power Key Publishing’s Modern Railways and CrossCountry ‘Severn Valley Adventurer’ special from Leeds to Kidderminster on September 27 2022. The trip marked 40 years of HST operation on CrossCountry’s North East to South West route and saw 43366, which was one of the first to be used on CrossCountry services in the early 1980, named HST 40.

Following operation on the ‘Severn Valley Adventurer’, 43184 and 43366 remained in regular frontline service with CrossCountry operating across the national network from Penzance to Edinburgh. 43184 was named Laira Diesel Depot in March 2023.

The new 'OO' gauge limited edition will model the two power cars with their names with 43184 powered and 43366 a dummy power car. Both will feature correct livery details and body features for the real Class 43s as well as a five-pole motor, all-wheel drive, directional lighting, a 21-pin decoder socket, working roof fans and twin factory fitted speakers.

Prices are set at £359.99 for the DCC ready versions (a DCC sound fitted version with Hornby Triplex Sound is also available priced at £399.99).

The new CrossCountry HST limited-edition train pack is available now from the Key Model World Shop.
