The September 2022 issue of FlyPast pays tribute to the USAAF’s Mighty Eighth with several special features focusing on US operations over Europe during World War Two. Among the articles, Thomas McKelvey Cleaver charts the arrival and early operations of the Eighth, while Anthony Moor tells the story of valiant Flying Fortress pilot Lt William H Johnson, a man who made the ultimate sacrifice to save his crew.
