The August 2021 issue of FlyPast features an astonishing UK-based warbird on its cover. Following a thorough restoration to flying status at Biggin Hill, the Hangar 11 Collection’s Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX has returned to the skies – and it’s painted in a unique livery that reflects its wartime service in Russian hands. Owner and pilot Peter Teichman looks back at the restoration and return to flight of this magnificent machine, with exclusive air-to-air photography from Darren Harbar.

FLY WITH A HURRICANE
FlyPast details an exciting opportunity to not only get airborne in a World War Two-era North American Harvard, but to fly alongside an iconic Hawker Hurricane.

SCHNEIDER TROPHY
Ken Ellis takes us on a tour of Calshot, the venue for the final Schneider Trophy races and a centre for flying boat activity.

RUSSIAN ‘FIDDLER’
As the Tupolev Tu-128 ‘Fiddler’ marks its 60th anniversary, Sérgio Santana describes the potent jet’s operation from a pilot’s perspective.

CURTISS HELLDIVER
Our regular ‘Classics’ section focuses on the fearsome Curtiss Helldiver. Despite its challenging handling characteristics, more than 7,000 were built. We document the US machine’s sometimes troubled past, supported by exclusive profile artwork.

WARBIRD GALLERY
A lavish array of air-to-air imagery from the lens of master photographer Luigino Caliaro.

I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love themagazine.
Pretty much the only game in town for the stuff I'm looking for.
