Hornby’s class 66 is a must-have locomotive type and an ideal start to modelling in TT:120 scale. Accurately portraying a universal modern diesel type in a wide range of colourful liveries, the class 66 is perfect for any current-era TT:120 layout. Buy now from the Key Model World Shop.
The class 66 is a highly successful and reliable freight design produced by EMD, with 480 examples constructed specifically for the Britain’s railways between 1998 and 2016 and further examples later imported from Europe. Class 66s are truly ubiquitous and can be found on all types of freight across the UK, with the fleet operated by five main companies and carrying a huge range of liveries to this day.
The corporate DB Schenker bright red and grey livery is accurately replicated by Hornby with 66097, a locomotive from the first batch of 250 class 66s ordered by EWS. With multiple sub-classes and countless design differences, Hornby has accurately produced this model as a class 66/0 with original WIPAC headlights and detail variations accurate for 2010 onwards.
Internally the locomotive features a Next18 DCC decoder socket, making it a simple upgrade to digital control with Hornby Triplex Sound Bluetooth decoders or other brands of decoders. Hornby’s TT:120 class 66 is highly detailed and is the perfect companion to the modern image freight rolling stock, DB class 08 and HSTs currently in development by Hornby.
Product highlights include:
- Class 66/0 66097 in DB Schenker red
- DCC ready with a Next18 decoder socket
- NEM standard couplings
- Separately fitted etched metal steps, handrails and grilles
- Must-have model of a ubiquitous modern diesel locomotive (era 10)

Subscribing since the 80's!
I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or ‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love the magazine.
