The aim was to produce a more efficient steam locomotive and, while that proved to be the case over long distances, it was more difficult to operate at lower speeds and lacked a reliable reverse gear.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;\" lang=\"EN-GB\"\u003eNevertheless, in its ‘Turbomotive’ form 6202 remained in frontline service until 1949 when it was rebuilt as a piston driven ‘Princess Royal’\/‘Princess Coronation’ hybrid 4-6-2. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;\" lang=\"EN-GB\"\u003eDuring its career it underwent modifications shortly after introduction in 1936 and that is the form in which Hornby has modelled the locomotive this time – a difference to the first release in LMS lined crimson colours which modelled it in as-delivered condition.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;\" lang=\"EN-GB\"\u003eThe key differences are in the boiler for this release are that 6202 now has a replacement 40-row superheater boiler with the regulator housed in a separate dome together with reverse turbine modifications, a 4,000 gallon Stanier tender with roller bearings and a host of highly detailed separately fitted parts. These include handrails, smokebox numberplates, a fully detailed cab and backhead, adjustable oil cooler radiator flap, opening cab roof vent, sprung metal buffers and an accurate body profile.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;\" lang=\"EN-GB\"\u003eElectronic features include working headlamps on the locomotive together with a working tail lamp on the tender controlled by touching the side of the tender body.
