Welcome to the 2019 edition of the US Navy and Marine Corps Air Power Yearbook. This annual bookazine aims to deliver a roundup of the most exciting action from the ranks of two of the world’s premier air arms including insightful interviews and reporting from the cutting edge of naval aviation.

Few stories are bigger in US Naval Aviation right now than the Initial Operating Capability of the F-35C Lightning II. VFA-147 ‘Argonauts’ is the navy’s first operational fleet unit and it has declared an initial warfighting standard, and is now building up to prepare for its first cruise. VFA-147 will make its first deployment aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in 2021, marking the first time a carrier air wing with include the Lightning II in its inventory.

In this issue of the Yearbook we also present an exclusive interview with the commanding officer of TOPGUN as the school marks its 50th anniversary. Other features include a roundup of major news from around the US Navy and US Marine Corps, retirement of the final EA-6B Prowlers, Lemoore super base, and a full order of battle and listing of all types in service with these two leading air arms.
