FlyPast Feb 2017

The brand new February edition of FlyPast features a special section dedicated to the legendary Supermarine Spitfire. Often written about, we focus on some of the less well known aspects of the famous fighter’s service. We examine wartime Spitfires modified to fly at high altitude and look at what the Germans did with captured aircraft. We also go air-to-air with a recently restored Mk.IX and get a sneak preview of a new documentary being prepared for the cinema screen.

Beaufort Spotlight
Our popular Spotlight section focuses on one of the less well known heroes of World War Two, the Bristol Beaufort. Andrew Thomas reflects on how both the RAF and the Royal Australian Air Force used the type in wartime, and we highlight a Beaufort pilot who posthumously received the VC.
