Buses and Coaches 1945–70: From Contemporary Adverts
From 1945 to 1970, trade press advertisements for buses and coaches changed considerably, as the UK adjusted to post-war life. The austerity of early times led to major vehicle manufacturers working to develop new models while also trying to help improve the UK economy. The market attracted new entrants including truck manufacturers looking for new opportunities and a legion of smaller coachbuilders catering to operators that urgently required new and rebodied coaches to meet the demands of the post-war travel boom.
Using a wide range of adverts to illustrate the narrative, this book shows how smaller manufacturers often fell by the wayside as the market came to be dominated by a group of coachbuilders that had strong brand awareness and significant marketing impact. Slick adverts sometimes made outrageous claims for the product on offer.
With more than 180 period adverts spanning 25 years, this attractive volume tracks the advertising history of Britain’s biggest bus and coach manufacturers in their efforts to win sales.

Subscribing since the 80's!
I started buying Aeroplane Monthly in ‘76 or ‘77. By the early 80’s I bought a subscription and I still have it. I love the magazine.
