Today the F-14 is gradually being replaced by the new F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. However, it can also fly the air-to-air mission and since its introduction in the early 1980s has seen continued development. Today the new and larger F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is one of the most capable aircraft the US Navy has ever operated and is now entering fleet service.
